(Suitable for divers with Advanced Open Water certification and 100 or more logged dives.)
SSI Dive Control Specialist is the initial dive leadership level. It is considered by those in the industry as the ‘fun’ leadership rating. As a DiveCon, you can do more than any other entry-level dive leader. You can do more because you receive both master diver and assistant instructor training in The Dive Shed’s SSI Dive Control Specialist course. As a DiveCon you can:
- work on dive boats, at resorts, and take groups diving
- lead dive trips and tours
- assist SSI Instructors in the pool and open water
- teach skills in the pool under the direct supervision of an SSI Instructor
- teach SSI scuba skills update programs
- teach selected SSI Specialty courses
- teach the SSI Snorkeling program
- teach selected First Aid and CPR programs
- teach Scuba Rangers (after completing the Scuba Rangers Instructor training)
Prerequisites
- 100 logged dives
- Internship of 5 Open Water classes, 1 Rescue, 1 Specialty
Your SSI DiveCon Course fee includes:
- registration and instruction
- SSI Certification

- air fills
You need to provide:
- a current dive medical certificate from your Doctor
- 4 passport photos for yourself
- own equipment (must be of instructor type and quality)
