SSI Stress and Rescue Diver Course

What if? That is a question any responsible person asks him or herself in any situation that presents a risk. All recreational sports present elements of risk – even fishing. What if a diver panics on me? What if my buddy gets into trouble? Will I know what to do? Will I be able to stop myself from panicking? Will I be able to think clearly?

If these questions have ever concerned you, the Dive Shed’s SSI Stress and Rescue Diver course will qualify you to handle stress and rescue situations. But more importantly, the course will help you detect the early warning signs of stress. Ironically, most cases of diver stress are preventable, with the exception of cardio-vascular accidents (eg heart attacks), just by identifying diver stress and its cause early.

Stress, by the simplest of definitions, is the result of physical or psychological pressures or demands which outweigh the diver’s ability or capacity to respond to them.

The Dive Shed’s highly qualified SSI instructors will teach you all the practical facets of effective stress and rescue strategies. The accompanying textbook and DVD makes learning the theory as easy as 1-2-3.

Prerequisites

• Open Water certification
• minimum 15 years of age
• current diving medical (12 months)
• 12 logged open water dives
• current first aid certificate
